Questions Answered

When you announce that the stork is coming, the questions start coming! Our family and friends are all so excited about baby #2 and have had a ton of questions for us--I hope this sums up most of it :-)

Why did you have such an early ultrasound? I had my first scheduled appointment with my doctor at 10 weeks. My doctor could not get a heartbeat with the doppler so she had us go in for an ultrasound just to make sure that everything is ok, which everything turned out to be great!

Are you having a boy or girl? The ultrasound was way too early to tell, we will have another ultrasound around the end of September at which hopefully the baby will cooperate and we will find out the sex.

How are you feeling? Mentally--very excited, nervous, scared. Physically-- I feel pregnant (i.e. like crap, like I am dying, like I am wanting to die at times...) I have informed Jay that I am dying, Jay does not seem too concerned...

Are you changing the URL to the blog? The URL (the address) of the blog will be staying the same, baby #2 will just have to be jealous of that. I wish that I had realized I would have more children when I picked the URL, but pregnancy, labor, delivery and postpartum were all a little too fresh in my mind for me to think we would have another. The name of the blog (Little Man Jack) will change, though. At this time I have no good ideas as to what to change it to, so any suggestions would be welcome, the only rule I have is that it can't use our last name.

How big was Jack if your doctor wants to induce early? Jack was born 5 days early and weighed in at 8lbs, 9oz. If he had been born on his due date, he could have been over 9 pounds! Second babies are usually larger than the first, so if baby would go to it's due date, we could quite possibly have a 9 pounder. I am short, very short (5'3'') and my frame is such that my doctor said that I am just not made to deliver big babies (Jack was not a c-section baby, but towards the end, I was begging for one!). My husband is broad shouldered and 6'3''--apparently his genes won with Jack, we will just have to wait a little while to see who this baby will take after and let the doctor make the decision on whether or not to induce.

So, does this mean that you are finally done breastfeeding Jack? Oh, yes. I stopped nursing Jack when he was 13 months old. I had a whole 15 days of my body being only responsible for myself.

Any names picked out? Jay and I each have a few names we like, very few that we both like. Any suggestions would be welcome--except from Nana, sorry Mom, but no, I will not name this child Atticus nor Major if it is a boy.
