What Goes In, Must Come Out

Last night, Jack tried rice cereal for the first time, his first food (with the exception of the Dippin' Dots). Jack did pretty well, we got at least a few bites in his mouth.

This morning, Jay was saying good-bye to Jack and this is what he found. I hope cereal doesn't continue to have this kind of effect on him! (Yes, Missi, this is the cute WHITE sleeper that you gave him. Amazingly, it came clean in only one wash.)

Fun at the Fair

This week, we enjoyed the wonderful outdoor weather. On Thursday, we met my Aunt Cathi and her kids at Minnehaha Falls in Minneapolis. It was beautiful!
We had a really nice time walking around the park enjoying the scenery and talking.

On Friday, Jack and Jay had a little male bonding time while I went out with some other mommies. I was a little worried when I left because Jay has only been alone with Jack a couple of times and never more than a couple of hours. Jay reassured me that it would be just fine. After I was gone about an hour, I received a phone call asking if Jack could have some "Dippin Dots" (a kind of ice cream). I of course responded as any mother of a 4-month old would, "No-Way". I then was asked what would happen if Jack had already had a couple of Dippin' Dots. Well, luckily nothing happened to Jack, Jay on the other hand had to endure a lecture about not giving the baby food yet. He has promised me that he won't give Jack ice cream again until he is 1 year. I already don't believe him.

On Saturday, our friends Mandi and Travis came over with their daughter, Hadley. What a cutie! Hadley had fun being pulled in Jack's sled across the lawn. At dinner, Hadley showed Jay and I what we will be in for in a few months with Jack. Maybe we will wait to introduce table foods until Jack is around
3 or 4 years old.

On Sunday, Jay and I took Jack to his first Minnesota State Fair! We had a wonderful time. Jay took Jack through the Little Farmhands Barn where Jack got to sit on a big tractor, ride a little tractor and pose for tons of pictures for mom!

We also took Jack to a Butterfly House. He loved it. Several butterflies landed on him, of course he tried to grab them, but luckily he couldn't reach them. Jay was quite the butterfly magnet. He would have up to five on him at once.

At the end, we had a very tired boy!

4-Month Stats

Jack turned 4 months old today and to celebrate, we went to the doctor's office.

Here are his Stats:

Height: 25 1/4 inches (65%)

Weight: 16 lbs, 5 oz (79%)

Head: 16 inches (14%) I guess they measure around the forehead, not the cheeks!

Likes: Mommy, Daddy, being outside, stroller rides, baths, tylenol, mommy and daddy's bed, his exersaucer and jump-a-roo, and chewing on stuff!

Dislikes: shots, vitamins, sleeping alone, Mommy paying attention to someone else, teething (he is currently working on 6 teeth!) and naptime.

I can't believe how fast four months can fly by, soon we will be baby proofing the house!

Jack's Baptism

Jack had another eventful weekend. To celebrate Jack's baptism, all of his grand-parents, all of his aunts, his cousins and an uncle came to Minnesota! Nana, Holly, Cale and Ellie came on Friday afternoon. This was the first time Holly and her family had come to see us, so we packed a lot into a weekend. First we left Jack with Jay, (they went off for a shopping trip at Costco) and the rest of us went to Wild Rumpus, a children's book store in Minneapolis. We all had a lot of fun looking at the different animals in the book store. Cale and Ellie especially liked the tail-less cats and chickens running loose in the store!
That night Aunt Missi and Papa came up as well. That made for a very full house.

The next day, we took the kids to a park and Jay grilled lunch for us. Then we were off to the airport to pick up Uncle Sean and then off to Nickelodeon Adventures and Lego Land! Cale and Ellie had a blast, Jack took a 5 hour nap in the stroller... I think it was his way of coping with all the noise! We all had fun and enjoyed watching the kids.

When we got home, Grandpa Bill, Grandma Dotty and Aunt Jackie met us there and we ate out on the deck and Jay started a bonfire. It was a nice night with the whole family.

The next day we headed to church for Jack's baptism. Nana had made a beautiful gown for Jack out of the material from Jay's baptismal gown and had also brought the slip that I wore at my baptism. The slip had also been worn by my grandmother and great-grandmother at their baptisms and was originally made by my great-great grandmother. It was very special to me that Jack had so much family in one little gown. Cousin Cale wasn't thrilled that Jack was wearing a dress! Jack stayed awake for the whole church service, but fell asleep right before the baptism. We should have let him sleep...instead we woke him up, changed his clothes and he cried through almost the entire ceremony and pictures. Afterwards, we stripped Jack down to change his clothes again and he immediately started to grin. We should have let him go naked!
After the service, we all headed back to our house and Jay grilled lunch for us. Everyone dwindled out of the house after that, leaving us with a very spoiled, teething boy!
Jay and I are so glad that our families were able to come and join us for this event. Jack is very lucky to have so many wonderful people love him.

Rollin' Rollin' Rollin'

Hello! Jack had another busy week! On Thursday we took off for Jack's fifth trip to South Dakota. As usual, he was great in the car. This was the first time that I had to pack toys for him to play with in the car... he mostly just chewed on them. As usual, I sat in the back with him to entertain him...another thing that I swore I would never do as a Mommy!

On Thursday, we stopped by Jack's Great-Grandparent's house. As usual, Great-Grandma Bev spoiled us with her cooking! We headed to Nana and Papa's house that night. They were very excited to see Jack! I think that they noticed that Jay and I came too!

On Friday, my friend Stacy came to visit us. She was surprised at how big and strong Jack is.

On Saturday, Jay and Papa entered a Carp fishing tournament. Let's just say that they were a lot more excited when they left that morning than when they returned. This means that next year they will be trying out even more recipes to catch the gross fish. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Jack was still proud of them even though they didn't bring home the prize money they had promised him. I think Jack had plans of a new swing-set!

While the big boys were off fishing, Jack rolled over for the very first time! Daddy was sad that he missed it, but Jack did it for him the next day.
Saturday night, we all went to my Uncle Chuck's new ranch for a barn dance. We all had a great time.

Jack loved sitting in Papa's bean-bag!
On Sunday, Aunt Missi came out to see us before we left for home.
We are back home now, Jack now has to be detoxed from being overdosed with attention. I am sure we will have him back to normal just in time for all of the relatives coming this weekend for his baptism!
